The country doesnt owe a debt to any group of people. Minorities should have to work just as hard as majorities to obtain a job. I have lost many jobs because of affirmative action. I personally dont want this to happen to people. People can't lose their jobs because of ethnicity, so how can they justify gaining one through it. My posistion stands. Affirmative Action is an alienation of coorporate rights. If people want jobs. Go to school, become educated, find a job your qualified for and earn it. Rather then hoping that affirmative action takes you in.

PS. Yes minorities lived a hard life. But let me ask you something. Do you know any slave owners? so point is. We need to stop living on the past and start building on the future

I think that paying half of one's wages to the Federal Government, then getting charged tax on everything, and getting nothing in return except for the most powerful military in history, I call that slavery.

There are slave owners still alive, since there were corporations that owned slaves, and a significant amount of those corporations still exist.

The passage of time usually increases the size of an unpaid debt, not nullifies it.

I think any political platform that doesn't take into account the needs and thoughts of 'minorities' is doomed in this country, this is a nation of minorities.

Well to quote Ross Perot "Its your money! You spend it!" I beleive that we shouldnt have to pay tax. And give goverment back to the people. But thst not a realistic goal for two terms. So I can only set my platform to better what we have. And hopefuly someone down the road can carry on and fix the country.

As for affirmative action. The country shouldnt treat ANY group of people better than others. Affirmative action isnt fair to buisness. The white people of the 50's had to get a reality check and be told that they aren't better than blacks. Well, now its the minorities turn. I'm not a rascist but i think its time to atone. Comedians make fun of whites all the time. We have to be fair. Martin Luther King had a dream. It was that minorities and majorities would be equal. Not minority supperiority.

Now like I said. I'm not Fascist, Rascist, or anything of that nature. But when I speak of racial equality and social injustices I speak for everybody. Fair treatment to all races is what I want. If the minorities refuse to treat majorities equally, thats just sad. But there should be no more extra rights for minorities. It just isnt fair.

And one extra note, the past is the past. To quote Clinton now "Elections arent about the past, theyre about the future." So in closing. I say that my posistion stands. No more Affirmative Action. Equality for ALL!

Sorry glenn, but I have to agree with Canning on this one, and being a minority I think I have some say worth listening to.

Now all through my life, my parents taught me to "Get a real education, dont take the easy way out." I was always taught that everyone is equal. And to tell anyone that thinks otherwise to get a life. Canning is right when he says that minorities have more advantages than Majorities.

I have acctually turned down jobs, because of affirmative action. Why? Because it was the right thing to do. I didnt want to get ajob that way.

So way to go Canning! Point made.

Hey guys,I'm arguing with you. WITH you, not against you and I don't have any personal stake in being right. The important thing is the sharing of ideas so that we get some insight into other thoughts than our own. We all already have our own thoughts, no point in hoarding them, shared, they are of more value.

I do think that as a nation, the United States should acknowledge the tremendous debt we owe to those who did the actual work of building this country, and to the people from whom we stole it , and I think that the United States MUST honor and fulfill the promises and agreements it has made, and until the United States treats it's own citizens honorably and forthrightly, we will never heal the wounds of the past.

Perhaps I am a minority as well.

Dear Glenn.

Though I agree that the nation owes minorities a debt, That doesn't mean you can take jobs from the people who are qualified and give them to someone else because of their skin or ethnicity, etc.

Point is I just dont wan't anyone, minorities and majorities alike to be treated less equally. I'm not saying that we should stop giving job to minorities. Just that everyone should have an equal chance. Besides unemployment rates are bad no matter what. And Affirmative Action is the #3 cause of unemployment(among majorities). I want the people that worked hard to get an education, and worked hard to make something of themselves to get the jobs. In other words....to me....RACE HAS NO PLACE IN THE WORKPLACE....

The only way to achieve TRUE EQUALITY is for the door to swing both ways. To give a person a job because of the colour of his skin is as wrong as to refuse to hire a man or woman just because they are a negro or a hispanic.

I'm more concerned with rights for those who are crippled and women than I am, any colour of a healthy man, as I believe those with deformities and women are the victims of terrible bigotry in this country even in these enlightened times.

The only "equality" that really matters is "ECONOMIC EQUALITY". Without this no other equality matters. Therefore, you must break the monopoly the old rich ruling families, from the establishment gentry, have on the wealth of this country. Then redistribute that wealth anoung the common people to create TRUE ECONOMIC EQUALITY.
0therwise all the talk about equality and brotherhood is just useless chatter.

I'm producing a talk show and would like to speak to those who have lost jobs, promotions or simply passed over because of Affirmative Action.
